steel

New Zealand is privileged to have its own unique steel manufacturing industry, using approximately 2500 tonnes of coal a day. And 25 tonnes of coke for steel conditioning

They are reluctant to substitute the coal they use with biocoal as their iron refining process is tailored especially for the locally mined sub bituminous coal black sand. They are interested in using green coke however for their steel production.
